Top 5 Questions about Pet Cremation

We know how hard it is to lose a pet, and to have to make any decision in grief can be incredibly overwhelming including pet cremation. We want what is best for our pets but when we are also struggling with their loss asking the right questions is not always easy.

At Buddy we have complied a list of our most commonly asked questions when it comes to pet cremation – so you know exactly what to expect when having your pet cremated.

1. Will my pet be cremated on their own?

Group vs individual pet cremation

At Buddy we have several services to select from when choosing your cremation services, these include group and individual cremations. You can see our service selection here.

2. How long does pet cremation take?

From collection to return of your pet usually takes around one week depending on various factors. Once collection of your pet is arranged, we will be able to confirm a timeframe, depending on your availability to be home when we return your pet ashes to you.

The actual cremation can be done in a day, depending on the size of the pet and some other factors, usually between 2-8 hours.

3. How can I be sure my pet’s remains are returned?

To give you peace of mind that your beloved pet, and only your beloved pet, has returned home to you, Buddy tracks them every step of the way. Here are the details on our 3 points of tracking:

At the time of making your booking, your pet ‘s details were shared with us and they were allocated a unique booking number in our system. This number can be found on your cremation certificate, and is the first half of your tracking ID.

Before your pet was transferred into our care, they were gently labelled with their details by our trusted vet friends. Buddy diligently confirms that the details on your pet’s label match the details shared with us in your booking.

The moment your pet was transferred into our care, they were given a second unique tracking number, written on a stainless steel disc. This disc was carefully attached to your beloved pet’s paw, and stayed with them throughout their service. You will find this disc with your pet’s remains, and the unique tracking number is the second half of your tracking ID on your cremation certificate.

If you have any questions about the tracking and safe return of your pet, please do not hesitate to give us a call on 1300 172 329.

4. What if my pet passes at home, or unexpectedly?

We can arrange collection of your pet from your home. However, it is best if this can be done in consultation with the veterinarian team on the day so we can ensure you have time to say goodbye before we collect your pet.

We understand that accidents happen, a cremation can be booked at any time, so long as we know where we can collect your pet, and return the ashes home, we can arrange a cremation.
